Beloved in the Lord,
The disciples came to Jesus with a question that still occupies many minds today: "Who is the greatest?" They expected Jesus to mention position, influence, or achievement. Instead, He called a little child and placed him in their midst.
Our Lord teaches that greatness in God's Kingdom is not measured by status but by humility.
Children are trusting, teachable, sincere, and dependent. Jesus was not asking us to become childish but to become childlike in our relationship with God. Pride exalts self, but humility exalts Christ.
For those of us in priesthood, this lesson is indispensable. Ministry is not a platform for recognition but a privilege of service. The most effective servant of God is not necessarily the most celebrated but the one who remains humble, obedient, and willing to be taught by the Master.
True greatness is seen in a heart that is quick to forgive, eager to learn, ready to serve, and completely dependent upon God's grace. The higher God lifts us, the deeper our humility should become.
As we begin this new week, let us examine our hearts. Are we pursuing titles more than transformation? Recognition more than righteousness? Christ reminds us that the pathway to greatness is the pathway of humility.
Finally, I warmly remind every clergy child and family that our ACCA National Convention at St. Peter's Cathedral, Asaba, begins this month, from 27th to 30th August 2026. Let us continue to pray fervently for God's guidance, safe journeys, and a mighty outpouring of His Spirit. I look forward to welcoming you all as we gather in unity to celebrate our heritage and deepen our fellowship in Christ.
